Wanting something intimate and true to themselves, Samantha and Kristos already eloped in Vegas a couple months earlier but were ready to celebrate with family in DC. They got ready together in a hotel near CityCenter and pretty much danced their way to and from their small, romantic ceremony at the Cathedral of St. Matthew in their rented limousine. We had an absolute blast grabbing portraits of their beautiful (and hilarious) bridal party under the amazing autumn leaves, the installation above Palmer Alley, and then moved on to party and eat some of the best food I've ever put in my mouth at Momofuku -- where I am pretty sure I did not stop laughing or smiling for hours.
Every single moment – from their relaxed, easy, excited hours getting ready with family; their emotional and touching and intimate first look; their gorgeous ceremony in the woods of the Catoctin Mountains; the heartfelt and soulful words both spoken of them and from them during their toasts and reception; their hilarious and happy and fun and joyful reception – was overflowing with love and gratitude and respect.
I think I’m going to run out of happy and loving adjectives to describe Julie and Ryan and their wedding, so I will let these images tell the story of the beautiful day they said their vows surrounded by love under the trees.
Here is every couple that hopped in front of my camera last year. It was insanely hard to pick just a few favorites from every wedding and one from every engagement or couples shoot – I clearly have a lot more to blog from the fall wedding season and that’s coming as soon as possible. I want to share every image from every one of these weddings because I love these people so incredibly much.
an hour of torrential downpour on their wedding day didn't even make them blink; Alexa and Mike are truly some of the most laid-back, kindhearted, genuine people i've ever met. their wedding day at Rockfield Manor in Bel Air, MD was an honor and joy to photograph. from a beautiful first look in gorgeous just-before-the-storm light to a Jewish tradition-filled ceremony and reception with loved ones close by, from a homemade ice cream bar to crazy and hilarious hours of dancing -- i had an absolute blast!
Alma and Mike. I feel like a broken record every time I try to write something about these two but I just keep coming back to an overwhelming feeling of gratitude and love. It feels like I've known them my entire life when in reality it's only been about a year since we connected. From Alma's first enthusiastic email, I knew they were going to hold a special place in my heart.
